CSC, together with Indonesia's National Civil Service Agency (NCSA) co-organized the inaugural Forum on Civil Service Accountability and Good Governance at the Technical Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Civil Service Matters at Bukit Tinggi, Indonesia on 27 October 2008.
The Forum was a gathering of ASEAN Heads of Civil Services and experts to discuss on the concept of good governance and its role in ASEAN. Participants shared the view that the forum gave them a platform to exchange notes on what good governance and accountability was. The speakers included eminent personalities such as A/Prof Henri Ghesquiere, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Prof Ryokichi Hirono, Professor Emeritus, Seikei University and Dr Yap Kioe Sheng, Head, Social Protection and Social Justice, UNESCAP. It was well received by the attendees and vigorous support was given for the next meeting in Laos in 2010.
