Since the 1990s, CSC has partnered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore and the Commonwealth Secretariat (Comsec) in conducting seminars for international participants from the Commonwealth countries. The two recent programmes which CSC has completed are:-
1) Managing Public Sector Human Resources - Managing Performance and Renewal in Public Services (22 January – 2 February 2007)
The programme saw attendance by 24 participants from 19 Commonwealth countries. It provided an interactive forum for senior officers with responsibility for the design and development of HRM policies to share, explore and discuss issues relating to ensuring continuity and renewal in Public Services. Participants also visited the Public Service Division, the department that sets the policy direction for the efficient and effective management of public service (including management of human talent).
2) Better Governance – Managing Corruption (29 January – 9 February 2007)
27 participants from 18 Commonwealth countries discussed and explored different strategies and approaches to tackling corruption, promoting transparency and high ethical standards in government. Besides Singapore’s experience, participants also shared experiences and best practices within their country. As part of the programme, participants visited Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB), Commercial Affairs Department (CAD)and had a dialogue session with a representative from the Auditor-General’s Office.
